Benchmark U.S. crude oil prices for March delivery surged by $1.16, reaching $79.19 per barrel on Friday. Similarly, Brent crude prices for April delivery saw a 61-cent increase, hitting $83.47 per barrel.
Gasoline and Heating
On the other hand, wholesale gasoline prices for March delivery climbed by 2 cents, reaching $2.34 per gallon. In contrast, March heating prices decreased by 1 cent, settling at $2.81 per gallon.
Natural Gas
March natural gas prices saw a 3-cent increase, reaching $1.61 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Precious Metals
Turning to metals, gold prices for April delivery rose by $9.20, hitting $2,024.10 per ounce. Likewise, silver for March delivery saw a 53-cent increase, reaching $23.48 per ounce. March copper also experienced an 8-cent increase, reaching $3.84 per pound.
Currency Exchange
In currency markets, the dollar strengthened against the Japanese yen, rising to 150.24 yen from 149.96 Japanese yen. Additionally, the euro saw a slight increase, rising to $1.0777 from $1.0769.
