Musician shares intimate details of her health scare and recovery
In a surprising revelation, Madonna recently disclosed that she was placed in an induced coma for 48 hours during her recent hospitalization. Speaking to a crowd in a video captured by a fan, the iconic singer shared that her Kabbalah teacher was the one who stood by her side during this challenging time.
The Grammy-winning artist expressed that the only voice she heard during her coma was that of her teacher, saying, “Squeeze my hand.” Madonna further opened up about her experience, stating, “When I first became conscious, and I saw my six incredible children sitting around me — by the way, I had to almost die to get all my kids in one room.“
Friend’s quick action credited with saving Madonna’s life
Madonna also acknowledged the crucial role played by her friend Shavawn in saving her life. The pop icon revealed that she had passed out in her bathroom when Shavawn intervened and rushed her to the hospital. Grateful for her friend’s support, Madonna said, “There are some very important people in the room tonight that were with me at the hospital. There’s one very important woman who dragged me to the hospital. I don’t even remember. I passed out on my bathroom floor and woke up in the ICU.“
Thoughts of family and fans during recovery
Reflecting on her time in the hospital before her current tour, Madonna shared that her first thought upon waking up was of her children. In an Instagram post during her recovery from home, she wrote, “My first thought when I woke up in the hospital was my children. My second thought was that I did not want to disappoint anyone who bought tickets for my tour. I also didn’t want to let down the people who worked tirelessly with me over the last few months to create my show.“
The news of Madonna’s hospitalization was initially announced by her longtime manager, Guy Oseary. In an Instagram post, he revealed that the singer had developed a serious bacterial infection on June 24, resulting in her stay in the ICU. Oseary reassured fans that her health was improving and a full recovery was expected.
The “Celebration Tour,” which marked Madonna’s 40-year anniversary in the entertainment industry, was scheduled to begin in July. However, due to her health scare, the tour had to be postponed.
Madonna’s openness about her health journey has been met with support and well wishes from fans and the media alike. Tracy Wright of Fox News Digital contributed to this report.
