Dispute over Company’s Direction Leads to Tragic Death
A former executive at Yoozoo Games, Xu Yao, has been sentenced to death for the poisoning of the company’s founder, Lin Qi, in December 2020. The Shanghai First Intermediate People’s Court revealed that Xu poisoned Lin’s food due to a dispute over the business’s management.
Lethal Consequences
Lin Qi, aged 39, succumbed to the poisoning about 10 days after the incident. Xu’s actions also affected four other individuals, although they survived the poisoning. The court disclosed that Xu had poisoned beverages in the office between September and December 2020, targeting specific individuals due to disputes.

Yoozoo Games, also known as Youzu Interactive, held the film rights to the acclaimed Chinese science fiction trilogy, “The Three-Body Problem.” Xu was overseeing a subsidiary responsible for business related to this project. Notably, Yoozoo collaborated with Netflix to produce an adaptation of the trilogy, a project associated with “Game of Thrones” creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. Lin was credited as an executive producer on the series.
