Muniz Finds Solace in Scottsdale
Former child star Frankie Muniz recently shared how a simple move to Scottsdale in 2008 had a profound impact on his life. The 38-year-old, known for his role in “Malcolm in the Middle,” credits the move with saving him from the pitfalls of fame.
Avoiding the Deep End
Muniz confesses that despite being in the entertainment business, he managed to steer clear of the destructive behaviors that often plague child stars. He proudly states, “I’ve never had a sip of alcohol. I’ve never done drugs. I’ve never done anything.” This decision was not influenced by religion but rather a personal choice to avoid potential regrets.
Appreciating the Little Things
The move to Scottsdale allowed Muniz to appreciate the simple pleasures in life. He explains, “I started looking up… This is so cheesy… but like I look at the sky. I looked at the trees.” This newfound perspective made him value his past experiences and strive to give his all in everything he does.
Resisting Peer Pressure
Muniz’s decision not to drink or indulge in drugs was met with mixed reactions. Some were appalled by his choice, while others admired his strength. Muniz recalls, “I couldn’t believe everybody’s reactions when I said, ‘Oh I don’t drink.’ It either shocked them or they praised me for it.”
A Life Choice That Stuck
Reflecting on his decision, Muniz admits that there was no particular reason behind it. He simply felt it was something he never wanted to partake in. Even when faced with temptation at 18 years old, Muniz stayed true to his resolve, stating, “I had made it so long without it, that I was kinda like, ‘I’m not gonna start now.'”
Frankie Muniz’s story serves as a reminder that sometimes the little decisions we make can have a monumental impact on our lives.
