Actress Speaks Candidly about Symptoms and Regrets
Nicole Eggert, known for her role in the hit TV show “Charles in Charge,” recently shared her heartbreaking breast cancer diagnosis with the world. In an interview with “Inside Edition,” Eggert spoke openly about her symptoms and the emotional moment she discovered a large lump.
Eggert’s Heartbreaking Discovery
“It’s horrible, it’s horrible,” Eggert expressed to “Inside Edition” as she recalled the moment she felt pain in her breast and found the lump. The actress admitted that her heart dropped, realizing the severity of the situation. She believes that if she had her smaller, natural breasts, she may have detected the cancer earlier.
The Pressure to Get Breast Implants
Eggert revealed that at the age of 19, she succumbed to societal pressure and decided to get breast implants. Starring alongside actresses like Pamela Anderson, who were celebrated for their fit figures, Eggert felt the need to conform. However, she now regrets the decision, describing it as a “huge mistake.”
A Message to Others
In light of her own experience, Eggert is urging others to prioritize their health. She emphasized the importance of regular self-exams and advised against getting breast implants. Her hope is that by sharing her story, others can avoid the pain and difficulties she has faced.
FDA’s Update on Breast Implants
In March 2023, the FDA issued an update regarding cases of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) in the scar tissue surrounding breast implants. The FDA acknowledged 19 reported cases of SCC and expressed concern over the unknown causes, incidence, and risk factors associated with this type of cancer. While they believe SCC in the capsule around the breast implant is rare, the FDA is actively monitoring the situation.
A Family History of Cancer
Nicole Eggert’s breast cancer diagnosis hits particularly close to home as both of her parents also battled cancer. With two daughters of her own, Eggert is determined to raise awareness about the importance of early detection and maintaining one’s health.
As Eggert continues her fight against breast cancer, she remains hopeful that her story will encourage others to prioritize their well-being and seek medical attention if they notice any concerning symptoms.
