‘Oh my God, we’re going to be in a bathing suit all day every day?’
Former “Baywatch” star Nicole Eggert recently shared her experience on the hit TV show’s set in a candid interview with People magazine. Eggert, who joined the cast for season three, revealed that she was stunned on her first day of filming when she realized that she had not auditioned for a spinoff series about high school kids, as she had originally thought.
She recalled her initial reaction, saying, “Oh, s—,” as she realized that she would be in a bathing suit all day, every day. Eggert admitted feeling taken advantage of, with her body constantly on display for everyone to see. She compared herself to her fellow cast members, who were all super fit and tiny, while she felt insecure about her own body.
Regretting a decision made at 18
During a break from shooting “Baywatch,” Eggert, then 18 years old, made a decision that she would later come to regret. Feeling insecure about her appearance in the iconic red swimsuit, she decided to get breast implants. Reflecting on that choice, she said, “It was a stupid 18-year-old decision.”
Since then, Eggert has undergone several breast augmentation surgeries, and in 2015, she appeared on an episode of “Botched,” wanting a breast reduction.
A devastating diagnosis
Earlier this month, Eggert sadly revealed that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. She first noticed pain in her breast and experienced an unexplained weight gain. Initially, she believed these symptoms were due to menopause. However, during a self-exam in October, she discovered a lump.
Describing her experience, Eggert said, “It really was throbbing and hurting.” She immediately sought medical attention but had to wait until the end of November to get it examined. The results showed that she had stage 2 cribriform carcinoma.
Facing the battle ahead
Both of Eggert’s parents had cancer, making her diagnosis even more difficult to bear. Now, she is waiting to determine the next steps for treatment. Eggert expressed her anxiety, saying, “Every second that passes and it’s inside of me, it’s growing, and you’re just like, you just want it out.”
She remains hopeful and determined to fight her battle with breast cancer, advocating for others to take care of their bodies and avoid unnecessary procedures.
