Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band have decided to postpone their entire 2023 tour until 2024 on the advice of doctors. The legendary musician, who recently celebrated his 74th birthday, is currently in the process of recovering from peptic ulcer disease, as confirmed by a press release.
The decision to delay the tour for an additional year is a precautionary measure as Springsteen steadily recovers from the ailment. Earlier this month, Springsteen had already postponed all his US tour dates for September 2023 to undergo treatment for symptoms related to peptic ulcer disease. This condition can lead to the formation of ulcers in the stomach or small intestine, causing discomfort such as heartburn, nausea, and stomach pain.
The newly postponed shows encompass Canadian dates and a West Coast run that includes Phoenix, San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. Fans can anticipate the announcement of rescheduled concerts within the week, with the performances taking place at their original venues.
Peptic ulcer disease carries certain risks, including bleeding and critical situations such as ulcer perforation through the stomach. Common treatments involve the use of proton pump inhibitors like Prilosec, which can aid in the healing of ulcers within four to six weeks.
In a brief statement, Springsteen expressed his gratitude to friends and fans for their well-wishes, encouragement, and support during his recovery. He conveyed his eagerness to see everyone again next year.
Springsteen’s 2023 tour, his first in six years, began on February 1 in Florida and has since taken him across Europe, including a headline performance at the British Summertime Festival in London’s Hyde Park, where he was joined by notable figures like Peter Gabriel, Billy Joel, Jon Bon Jovi, and Roger Federer in the audience.
