Allman’s Liberty and Autonomy Upheld, Conservatorship Denied
In a significant victory for personal liberty and legal autonomy, the court has ruled against Cher’s temporary conservatorship petition for her son, Elijah Allman. Allman’s legal team from Cage & Miles expressed their satisfaction with the court’s decision, emphasizing that conservatorship should not be taken lightly. They highlighted the insufficiency of evidence presented by Cher to establish an emergency situation.
March 6, 2024, has been scheduled for the court to deliberate on the question of a permanent conservatorship. Cage & Miles remains committed to defending Allman’s rights and ensuring that his voice is heard and respected throughout the process.
Cher’s Concerns and Allman’s Objection
Cher’s petition for a conservatorship over her son’s estate was filed in December following allegations that she had sent him to a treatment center in November 2022. She claimed that Allman, who is 47 years old, was unable to manage his finances due to severe mental health and substance abuse issues. The court denied her request to be appointed conservator earlier this month.
In response, Allman filed an objection to his mother’s request to be appointed temporary conservator. He expressed discomfort with having his mother in control of his finances and stated that he did not require her help or support at this time. Allman also affirmed that he had ceased using illicit substances, which were the main cause of concern for his mother.
A Path to Reconciliation with Marieangela King
Allman and his wife, Marieangela King, are now working towards reconciliation. King, in her own declaration, described Cher as unfit to serve as conservator. She claimed to have witnessed and experienced abusive behavior mostly coming from Cher, as well as from Allman’s siblings and Cher’s personal assistant.
King also highlighted that Cher had used her wealth, fame, and power to exclude her from decision-making regarding Allman’s recovery process. Allman’s wife expressed her support by educating herself on addiction treatment and attending AA meetings alongside him.
No Emergency, Asserts Allman
Allman reiterated that there was no emergency justifying a conservatorship during the last hearing, and there is none now. He emphasized that he had taken steps to secure his property, meet his obligations, and resist the temptations that had harmed him in the past.
Cher’s representatives have not yet responded to requests for comment.
