Moore Stands by Willis
Actress Demi Moore has remained steadfast in her support of ex-husband Bruce Willis as he faces the challenges of frontotemporal dementia (FTD). In a recent interview on “Good Morning America,” Moore expressed her admiration for Willis, stating, “I think, given the givens, he’s doing very well.”
Moore emphasized the importance of accepting loved ones for who they are in the present, rather than holding onto what they used to be. She urged others facing similar struggles to “let go of who they’ve been or who you think they [should be].”
A Unified Family
Despite their divorce in 2000, Moore and Willis have maintained a strong bond in order to support their three daughters – Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah. The family frequently shares heartwarming moments together on their social media accounts.
Last year, the Willis family announced Bruce’s diagnosis of FTD, a progressive neurological disorder. Moore’s unwavering support has been a source of comfort for the “Die Hard” actor throughout his journey.
A Message of Love and Joy
Moore has encouraged other families dealing with dementia to focus on the present and embrace the love and joy that still exists. She advised, “Take in the joy… the love that is present and there for all that they are, not all that they’re not.”
Willis was diagnosed with aphasia in 2022, leading to his retirement. By March 2023, his condition had progressed to frontotemporal dementia. Despite the challenges, his family continues to stand by him and share precious moments on social media.
A Father-Daughter Bond
In a heartwarming New Year’s post, Willis’ daughter, Scout, expressed her love for her father. The photos captured a tender moment between them, with Willis affectionately placing his hands on Scout’s head. The post garnered attention as it showcased the strong bond between father and daughter.
A Challenging Journey
Willis’ wife, Emma Heming, recently marked a significant milestone with him – their more than a decade-long relationship. Heming acknowledged the difficulties that holidays and anniversaries can bring when dealing with dementia. However, her love and adoration for Willis continue to grow.
The couple initially married in 2009 and renewed their vows in 2019, with all of Willis’ children and even Moore in attendance.
